We can’t wait to see how God will bless again this year, as we raise the funds to install a PA system and to replace the tile flooring in two classrooms, and to continue to provide quality Christian education here at BCS. Today every family received a Race For Education Packet with all of the details. Make a note that your name and address sheet is due back in to BCS by Friday, September 19th. Let’s hit that 100% participation mark! Remember that this is the year’s biggest fund raiser at BCS. Also remember that schools three times our size have not achieved our level of success. Let’s all bathe this event in prayer from the beginning, do our part, and then watch in amazement and thanksgiving as God brings the increase!
Patriotic Day
In remembrance of 9/11 and in celebration of the freedom that we have in our country, we are dressing in red, white, and blue tomorrow, September 11. Please be sure to follow the dress code for dress down days!
Back-to-school night
The classrooms were full of "students" last night as our parents listened to the teachers share their goals for the year and provide information about our curriculum and grading system. We’re glad so many of you could come! If you weren’t able to make it, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher with any questions you may have.
The new BCS directory and student handbook were also distributed last night. Today we’ll be sending copies to everyone who was unable to come.
Have you returned the forms from the packet you received in August? If you haven’t, please be sure to send them to us tomorrow.
Attention parents of students in grades K-3
When you pick up your child from school at dismissal time, we ask that you meet your child at the fence and walk him or her to your car. This will ensure the safety of our children as they cross the parking lot each day. Thank you for your help!
Please note that all visitors must stop in the office upon entering the building. Anyone who is not a school parent will be asked to sign in.
Intramural soccer
The 2008 intramural soccer program will commence on Wednesday, September 17 for any interested students in grades 4-8. Mrs. Thomas will conduct six consecutive Wednesday practices and scrimmages, beginning at 2:45 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Each student should bring a water bottle with his or name on it and a pair of shin guards. (There are shin guards available for use at school for those who don’t have their own.) Should there be a question regarding cancellation of a practice due to inclement weather, please wait until noon to call the school.
Please complete the attached permission slip and return it to school by Tuesday, September 16.
Drama Club and Chess Club
If you are in grades 4-8 and are interested in joining our Chess Club, please plan to meet with Mr. Clement after school in the multi-purpose room on Wednesday, September 17.
Drama Club will commence on Wednesday, September 24 in the multi-purpose room after school. Students in grades 5-8 are encouraged to come check it out!
Notes from our nurse
Reminder - per New Jersey State law, all preschool students must receive influenza and pneumococcal immunizations starting this school year. To avoid exclusion from school this fall, please notify the office with your appointment date. When the immunizations are received, please bring written documentation.
Fall Dessert Table
Start looking over your favorite fall recipes because it will soon be time for us to bake for our Fall Dessert Table at Dutch Neck Village! Saturday, October 4th is the day that BCS will be selling goodies to all those attending the festival at Dutch Neck. We ask that each school family contribute THREE baked items to be sold that day. Keep looking in The Bridge for more information, and for ways that you might be able to help. Just a reminder: tuition credits are given for every three baked items donated, for chairing the event, and for working two hours on the 4th.
Extended Care helper needed
We still need someone to help supervise Extended Care two days a week from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. If you are interested or know someone who is, please give us a call. Thanks!
Pianos
The school has two older pianos that we no longer need. If you are interested in taking one of them, please call us or stop in.

The New Jersey School Integrated Pest Management Act of 2002 requires schools to implement a school
integrated pest management policy. The law requires the superintendent of the school district, for each school in the district, the board of trustees of a charter school, and the principal or lead administrator of a private school, as appropriate, to implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) procedures to control pests and minimize exposure of children, faculty, and staff to pesticides. BridgetonChristianSchool shall therefore develop and maintain an IPM plan as part of the school’s policy.
Integrated Pest Management Procedures in Schools
Implementation of IPM procedures will determine when to control pests and whether to use mechanical,
physical, cultural, biological or chemical methods. Applying IPM principles prevents unacceptable levels of pest damage by the most economical means and with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment. Each school shall consider the full range of management options, including no action at all. Non-pesticide pest management methods are to be used whenever possible. The choice of using a pesticide shall be based on a review of all other available options and a determination that these options are not effective or not reasonable. When it is determined that a pesticide must be used, low impact pesticides and methods are preferred and shall be considered for use first.
Development of IPM Plans
The school IPM plan is a blueprint of how BridgetonChristianSchool will manage pests through IPM methods. The school IPM plan states the school’s goals regarding the management of pests and the use of pesticides. It reflects the school’s site-specific needs. The IPM plan shall provide a description of how each component of the school IPM policy will be implemented at the school. For BridgetonChristianSchool, the development of the IPM plan shall be the responsibility of the Administrator.
IPM Coordinator
The Board of Directors shall designate an integrated pest management coordinator, who is responsible for the implementation of the school integrated pest management policy.
Education/Training
The school community will be educated about potential pest problems and IPM methods used to achieve the pest management objectives. The IPM Coordinator, other school staff and pesticide applicators involved with implementation of the school IPM policy will be trained in appropriate components of IPM as it pertains to the school environment.Students, parents/guardians will be provided information on this policy and instructed on how they can contribute to the success of the IPM program.
Record Keeping
Records of pesticide use shall be maintained on site to meet the requirements of the state regulatory agency and the school board.Records shall also include, but are not limited to, pest surveillance data sheets and other non-pesticide pest management methods and practices utilized.
Notification/Posting
The Administrator of Bridgeton Christian School is responsible for timely notification to students’ parents or guardians and the school staff of pesticide treatments pursuant to the School IPM Act.
Re-entry
Re-entry to a pesticide treated area shall conform to the requirements of the School IPM Act.
Pesticide applicators
The IPM coordinator shall ensure that applicators follow state regulations, including licensing requirements and label precautions, and must comply with all components of the School IPM Policy.
Evaluation
For BridgetonChristianSchool, the Administrator shall report to the school board on the effectiveness of the school IPM plan and make recommendations for improvement as needed. The school board directs the Administrator to develop regulations/procedures for the implementation of this policy.

For School Year 2008-2009
Dear Parent, Guardian, or Staff Member:
This notice is being distributed to comply with the New Jersey School Integrated Pest Management Act. BridgetonChristianSchool has adopted an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Policy and has implemented an IPM Plan to comply with this law. IPM is a holistic, preventive approach to managing pests that is explained further in the school's IPM Policy included with this notice. All schools in New Jersey are required to have an Integrated Pest Management Coordinator (IPM Coordinator) to oversee all activities related to IPM and pesticide use at the school. The IPM Coordinator for BridgetonChristianSchool is:
Name of IPM Coordinator: Glenn Clement, Administrator
Business Phone number: 856-455-1733
Business Address: 27 Central Avenue, Bridgeton, NJ08302
The IPM Coordinator maintains the pesticide product label, and the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) (when one is available), of each pesticide product that may be used on school property. The label and the MSDS are available for review by a parent, guardian, staff member, or student attending the school. Also, the IPM Coordinator is available to parents, guardians, and staff members for information and to discuss
comments about IPM activities and pesticide use at the school. As part of a school pest management plan [insert name of school] BridgetonChristianSchool may use pesticides to control pests. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) register pesticides to determine that the use of a pesticide in accordance with instructions printed on the label does not pose an unreasonable risk to human health and the environment. Nevertheless, the EPA and the DEP cannot guarantee that registered pesticides do not pose any risk to human health, thus unnecessary exposure to pesticides should be avoided. The EPA has issued the statement that where possible, persons who are potentially sensitive, such as pregnant women, infants and children, should avoid unnecessary pesticide exposure.
The following items must be included with this annual notice:
