Race for Education packets were sent home with the students last Wednesday. If you didn’t receive yours, please call the school and we’ll get one to you. This Friday, September 19 is the day that names and addresses are due. If you have any questions at all or if we can help you in any way, please just give us a call. Also, do mark your calendar for October 17th, Race Day (rain date - October 20)! Preschoolers walk their hour at 10:00 a.m., kindergarten to fourth grade students walk at noon, and the upper grades walk at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to come and cheer on the walkers for this important fund raiser. Please pray that God would bless this effort from beginning to end.
Fall Dessert Table
Have you started looking through your favorite fall recipes? Our Fall Dessert Table at Dutch Neck Village is less than three weeks away - Saturday, October 4th . Don’t forget that you’ll receive one tuition credit for every three baked items you bring, five credits for chairing the event, and one credit for every two hours you work on the 4th.
Please let us know how you will be able to contribute by completing the attached form and returning it to the school by Thursday, September 25. Please keep in mind the fall theme when looking through your recipes. We’ve found that cupcakes, muffins, and plain breads don’t sell as well as other items, but the following is a list of some items that have been popular in the past:
Pies!
Pumpkin or Apple Desserts
Cobblers
Crisps
Pumpkin rolls
Apple cakes
Because we will be using hard plastic containers, icing will not be a problem - so feel free to "ice" away!
Although pumpkin pies are a terrific fall dessert, we’ve found that they do not always keep well throughout the day. We are limited in our ability to keep them cold, and would prefer to have only a few to sell at the opening of our day. If pumpkin pie is your specialty, then by all means, plan to bake one! Just be sure to let us know that’s what you’ll be sending. Thanks for your help!
Please don’t forget that Violet Drive is one way during drop-off and pick-up times each day. We ask that you enter Violet Drive across from Bridge Towne Arms Apartments and drive slowly through the drop-off areas. Thank you for helping us ensure the safety of our children.
PTF introduces Original Works art program
Be sure to review the attached flyer explaining the Original Works art based program the PTF is sponsoring. Our students will be creating their own artwork in school to be reproduced into a number of full color products. Samples of available products will be on display in the office, so please stop in and take a look.
Special chapel
During Friday’s chapel, grades 5-8 will learn how the love of Jesus is making a difference in the inner city of Los Angeles. Our guest speaker will be World Impact church planters Sharon and Glenn Geraghty. The Geraghtys will also visit the first grade class. World Impact is a Christian missions organization dedicated to ministering God’s love in the notorious L. A. neighborhood of Watts. Students in grades one and 5-8 are asked to participate in an offering of donated school supplies which will be taken back to Los Angeles for use in an inner-city Christian school. A box of crayons, pencils, pens, erasers, etc. would be appreciated. Donated items may be brought to the school on Friday. Thanks!
Extended Care helper needed
We still need someone to help supervise Extended Care two days a week from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. If you are interested or know someone who is, please give us a call. Thanks!
Party invitations
Just a reminder that private party invitations may be distributed in school only if the child’s entire homeroom class is invited. If select students are being invited, invitations should be mailed from the home.
Dress code
As cooler weather approaches, we’d like to remind you that students are permitted to wear a plain, long-sleeved, navy cardigan in class. Cardigans may button or zip up the front. No other outerwear may be worn in the building during regular school hours.
Church update
Throughout the year we like to keep in touch with the churches represented by our school families. Please help us update our list by completing the attached form and returning it to us as soon as possible. Thanks!
Notes from our nurse
Reminder - per New Jersey State law, all preschool students must receive influenza and pneumococcal immunizations starting this school year. To avoid exclusion from school this fall, please notify the office with your appointment date. When the immunizations are received, please bring written documentation.
A word of thanks
The family of Brandi Wells would like to thank the BCS family for its love and support following her passing. Barbara and Willie Forman write:
I thank you all for the support you gave to Mai’Lin and the rest of our family. Thanks for all the prayers. I know without God holding me up I would not have been able to handle it all.
Please continue to pray with us for these folks as they begin the very difficult healing process.
Dress Down Day cards
Please note that Dress Down Day cards will be issued at the end of each month.
Students may use their cards on the first and third Fridays of each month.

Dear Parents,
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13b-14).
Saint Paul's inspiring words serve as this year's theme verse for our school. This verse will guide our students and staff through this school year. Hopefully, your child made a smooth transition back to school. It was a beautiful summer, but it's back to work now. I pray that each child will come to love his or her teacher, grow stronger in the friendships that are established, and will make new acquaintances. Our school family is strong this year with five new families in our elementary grades and 18 new families in preschool. Our K-8 enrollment has increased 10 percent from June. We have new science curriculum and we'll be updating our math curriculum this year. We are thrilled to partner with you in the education of your children. If you have any questions, please call the office, speak to your child's teacher, or come visit me anytime. My office and home are open to you at all times.
Good communication between school and home is vital. Our newsletter, The Bridge, is sent home weekly (Wednesdays). This will provide you with everything you need to know about activities and events planned for our students. The Parent-Student Handbook has a wealth of important information. Please take the time to read it carefully.
Together, with our eyes focused on Jesus, let's move our school forward to ensure an excellent academic program, promote spiritual growth, impart a love for learning, and reach out to our community.
Sincerely,
Glenn Clement
